Tungsten Carbide
Balls for Ball-Point Pens

The pens are ranked among the highest often and widely used writing instruments. United States only about 2 billion pens are manufactured each year. Over there are many types of pens but most common are: 1) pens (2), fountain pens, (3) Soft-Tip Pens (4) pens, and (5) Specialty Pens. Ballpoint pens have a tiny carbide ball tungsten as the point of writing. The ink tank is a compartment in the enclosure which contains the ink and a narrow tube connects the tank ball. The ball snaps into a socket rotates as it rolls on the paper with ink inside the pen. Most pens have a ball cap or plastic used to close the tip and prevent ink from drying on the ball. Several changes have seen the pen are mechanism to switch that automatically pushes the barrel as the button is clicked or pushed.
Construction

As the pioneer of tungsten carbide in China, TD Materials Ltd. has developed tungsten-carbide bits for a multitude of applications. From its early days, TD Materials Ltd. has a pedigree that ranges from digging mines and coal to more recent feats of civil engineering. The tungsten-carbide bits were initially designed for railroad, tunnel and building projects with bits that were only able to dig soft ground such as silt and sands. However, the bits and the technology have rapidly evolved to deliver tungsten-carbide bits capable of digging solid ground such as gravel and bedrocks. As a result, TD Materials Ltd's. tungsten carbide bits are widely used throughout industry and are now some of the most essential and sought after tools in today’s construction sector. Now, the tungsten-carbide bits are required not only for the infrastructure industry but also for civil engineering projects involving reconstruction and the preventative maintenance of natural hazards. TD Materials Ltd. invests heavily in its research and development department to innovate and develop new products that ensure TD Materials Ltd. plays a major and leading role in civil engineering for today and for the future.
For Tool and Die Applications

To meet the very high demands of the tool and die industry, TD Materials Ltd. offers carbide grades especially developed for stamping applications. Application consultancy regarding grade selection, machining, and properties of different grades is just part of our service for you.

Mining

TD Materials Ltd. is one professional manufacturer of tungsten carbide inserts and tips. Carbide tips and buttons for mining and drilling tools. Tungsten carbide tips, inserts, buttons, wear parts for mining, rock drilling, oil exploration, geological prospecting, road digging, snow plowing and construction engineering. Our durable carbide with excellent fracture resistance dramatically improve tool life with high penetration rates. The consistent performance and tolerance are mainly attributed to our pure raw materials and strict ISO quality control. All of our carbide mining tips and inserts are made from virgin raw materials and HIP sintered for the top good quality and high performance. Various sizes and styles are available here and we can also make the tips in any new design and sizes to meet our customers’ requirement.

Rolls for Hot Rolling

TD Materials Ltd. Carbide roll can be used under rolling speed of 2-150m/sec. Newest material technology, Clamping mechanism endurable to high load rolling, total technical support, TD Materials Ltd. the top supplier in the world of carbide rolls, presents high quality control system.

Blades/Knives and Cutting Edges

Having a consistent size and tip angle, these knives successfully replace glass and razor blades in a variety of sectioning and block facing applications. The sharp edge lasts through thousands of sections, eliminating mid-procedure knife changes and frequent reordering while enhancing productivity. These knives fit tightly in the glass knife holders of most microtomes, are easy to handle and reduce the risk of cuts to your hands.

EDM Plates

Characteristic of EDM Blanks These EDM blanks are mainly used for dies. They are featured by perfect microstructure, good wear resistance and high toughness, well suited for use in mould industry.
The range of products includes cemented carbide progressive dies, punch dies and pressing mould for powder metallurgy etc..

General Engineering

TD Materials Ltd can produce, refurbish, and re-polish, tungsten carbide quality to tool steel material.

Oil/Gas Industries

In the relentless search for new sources of energy, whether hydrocarbon-based or carbon-free geothermal, advanced drilling technology makes possible their discovery and utilization. High performance tungsten carbide inserts, buttons, gage blocks and drag bit profiles are hard at work every day in drill bits around the world probing the earth's crust for oil, natural gas, geothermal energy, in seismic drilling, in mining exploration and production and drilling water wells for homes and communities.

Stone Working

We supply to stonemasons, sculptors and engravers worldwide from our TD Materials Ltd facility in China using traditional manufacturing techniques. All the tools listed on the website can be made on a one-off basis if required, and if you can't find what you need, contact us, as we may be able to create a tungsten carbide tool to your specifications. Every tool is hand-finished to the highest quality, in the unlikely event that the tool fails because of a manufacturing fault we will repair or replace it for you.

Fluid Handing in Pulp and Paper

TD Materials Ltd has the materials to solve the wear and corrosion problems in your pulp and paper processing. Our tungsten carbide is used on the most abrasive, erosive, and corrosive applications where shock is not an issue. Our long-wearing tungsten carbide grades can withstand more shock and loads than competitive grades. TD Materials Ltd has a line of tungsten carbide grades with fine grains and additions of nickel or chromium for corrosion resistance. Our custom-designed wear products will keep your equipment operating longer between maintenance sessions.

Metalworking

TD Materials Ltd is a dynamic full line supplier of precision carbide metal working tools, producing a wide range of carbide inserts, carbide end mills and cutting tools.

Rods and Insert Blanks

Our tungsten carbide rod blanks for the tool fabrication market offer unrivaled cutting performance and durability in the most demanding applications throughout the world. We offer a wide selection of micro-grain and sub-micron grades that are engineered to stand up to thermal extremes, vibration and impact wear. All of our products are sinter-HIP processed to insure complete metallurgical integrity and quality in manufacturing facilities that are ISO 9002 certified.

Woodworking and Forestry

TD Materials Ltd has tungsten carbide and cermet saw tip grades to suit every sawing operation you encounter. Tungsten carbide grades with fine-grain structures increase wear life, while more coarse grades and those with more cobalt give added edge strength.

Can Tooling

Our business is rooted in precision and quality. We have extensive experience with grinding and machining carbide, tool steels, and ceramics. We provide heat treating and -330° F cryogenics in-house, plus value-added services such as; pre-assembled tools, maintenance service kits, and custom delivery for JIT programs.

Cemented & Tungsten Carbide

Carbide is one of the most successful composite engineering materials ever produced. Its unique combination of strength, hardness and toughness satisfies the most demanding applications. Cemented carbide, also called tungsten carbide, hardmetal, or widia, is a hard material used in machining tough materials such as carbon steel or stainless steel, as well as in situations where other tools would wear away, such as high-quantity production runs. Most of the time, carbide will leave a better finish on the part, and allow faster machining
